Permissions and General Settings
You can fully manage who hits the Paywall, who can freely roam the articles, or which of your editors can add locks to articles entirely via XenForo Group Permissions, without knowing a single line of code.
XenForo User Group Permissions
By following the path Groups and Permissions -> User group permissions from the Admin Panel (Admin CP), you have the following massive controls under the [XenPress] Paywall tab:
1. Can View Locked Content (Bypass Shield)
Groups with this permission (e.g., VIP Members, Super Moderators) completely bypass the XenPress Shield system or the "Reading Quota". They do not experience any blur in content applied with Paywall, they always see articles 100% open.
- Strategy: You can instantly create a passive subscription revenue model by defining this permission for the packages you will sell via User Upgrades.
Where Are Paywall Limit Settings Configured?
The settings for each group (Free paragraph count, Blur intensity, etc.) are managed from a common center: By going to the XenPress Configuration Center -> Paywall (Content Lock) tab, you can configure the "Free Reading Quota" and "Glassmorphism" settings.
2. Can Add Content Lock (Paywall) To Articles
Determines the authority of certain user groups (e.g., Editors, Approved Authors, Administrators) to add a "Granular Lock" or "Hard Paywall" to the content while creating or editing an article. By giving this right to valuable content creators on your site, you can ensure they produce locked articles on your behalf.
3. Can Create Gift Links
This is the right that allows users to produce a "Gift Link" so they can let their friends read locked content for a limited time (and with limited clicks). The gift box icon only appears for members with this permission.
- Strategy: You can create organic viral growth (Word of Mouth) by selling the privilege of "gifting articles to friends" as part of Premium membership packages. At the same time, your income is protected by blocking bots and spam.
Attention While Testing!
Because the shield (XenPress Shield) works very aggressively and hardware-based, if you want to test "like a visitor" on your own site, make sure to test from a different device or from a completely formatted clean browser. Otherwise, as long as your own "Administrator Fingerprint" is in localStorage, you will continuously bypass the system and might think the paywall is broken!
